Writing Homework Help

The first reading of an essay is intended to help you understand the text and confirm your predictions. This step is sometimes called reading “with the grain” or “playing the believing game.” Playing the believing game asks you to believe or accept the points made in the articles. Later, we will read these articles “against the grain” or “playing the doubting game.” Your answers should respond to each of the three articles. As you read, think about the following questions:

1. Which of your predictions turned out to be true?
2. What surprised you?
3. If your predictions turned out to be wrong, what misled you?
4. Can you answer the question you created from the title?
5. What, if anything, is still confusing to you?
