• Is there a relevant and clear idea development? Are the warrants explained clearly?
• Is there backing in the form of supporting evidence and examples? If not, which parts are weak? How can they be improved?
• Are the in-text citations integrated well into the paragraph or do they break the flow? Is there enough elaboration? Is the evidence relevant?
• Is there an overreliance on sources (e.g., a collage of sources with minimal comments from the author)?
• Does the author provide a logical synthesis of different types of evidence?
• Does the author provide his/her own interpretation of the evidence?
• Are there any repetitions or sentences that break the flow?
• Are there any irrelevant examples/sentences that break the flow?
• Are there any logical fallacies or invalid/weak arguments?

Conclusion

• Does the conclusion start with the restatement of the thesis/claim and the main points?
• Does the conclusion provide a relevant final synthesis of the points, implications and/or recommendations or future predictions? If not, how can it be improved?
• Does the conclusion wrap up the essay without introducing a new issue?

Formatting and Grammar

• Is the APA cover page formatted correctly?
• Are the rest of the pages formatted according to APA (e.g., running head, margins, spacing, indentations, font)? Are the in-text citations done correctly? Circle/Underline any issues and comment.
• Are the end-of-text references formatted correctly?
• Do the end-of-text references match the in-text citations?
• Does the author use academic tone and vocabulary?
• Do you see any of the issues that are mentioned in the Common Errors document?
