Course description
History 17 B provides a broad sweep of the history of the United States. We will be covering a wide range of events, but we can not do it all. We will be having conversations on specific issues that have shaped the American experience.
We will talk about events from the 19th. We will discuss topics such as the Constitution, challenges to the Constitution, Civil War, Slavery; these are a just a few examples of the topics for consideration this semester.
Classroom procedure
Part of your grade will be based upon participation in our discussions. You will be expected to bring to class a 500 word essay in your words in which you provide comment and reflection, questions and answers, concerns and your own thoughts in reaction to the assigned reading for that night.
