YOUR PROJECT

Each
student will be a part of an Inter-Professional Health Care Team that will plan
a summer “Mercy Mission.” Each team will research and select a very
specific community that has been impacted by one of the recent hurricanes of
2017. The mission may be carried out on the continental U.S. or one of its
island territories. No missions may be international in nature.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

a.
Describe in detail the community you will serve. Include income, access to
services, cultural or language barriers, etc.

You
may use local news sources, video clips, or information found on websites. Be
sure to cite your sources. You may use endnotes. Refer to you APA
manual.

b.
Provide a rationale for your mission.

c.
Clearly describe the population characteristics that justify the need for your
services.

d.
Describe the geographic area and how it was impacted by the disaster.

e.
Justify that you are meeting an unmet need.

f.
Describe how you will coordinate with any other available resources,
organizations or agencies.

g.
Be sure to address any outreach challenges such as language, access to
services, etc.

h.
Describe your days and hours of operation and provide the justification.

i.
Describe and justify your clinic location.

CAVEATS

I
have provided a list of “caveats” to make your Mercy
Mission more interesting. Each team should thoroughly address at
least three caveats in your project. You must clearly discuss applicable course
materials including laws, moral codes, ethics, applicable team-based
approaches, decision theories, and potential impact on patient outcomes.
Clearly describe the “steps” or methodology your team used to resolve
any problems or issues.
