The music of composers like Mozart and Beethoven is still listened to and recognizable to the general populous even hundreds of years after it was created.  Many people throughout the world, whether trained in music or not can usually recognize the opening to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony even if they might not be able to state who the composer was, and it was written over 200 years ago (composed 1807 – 1808)!

Discuss in the forums what artists of recent history (we’ll say music since 1960) will be talked about and still listened to 200 years from now.  I’ll start us off by naming to me one of the most obvious answer:  The Beatles.  Given their influence on so many other musicians, the diversity and depth of their career, the success of the individual members, and the unfortunate notoriety of extra-musical events surrounding them, their fame and influence is sure to last for centuries.  When music history books are written hundreds of years from now , The Beatles will definitely be mentioned, if not have an entire chapter dedicated to them.
