After watching the “Petrarchism and Anti-Petrarchism” video and reading this week’s poems, consider how the Petrarchan language of love in one or more of these sonnets reminds you of a contemporary love song you know. (It doesn’t matter how recent or popular it is or what genre of music.) For your discussion post, please do the following:

• Select a YouTube video of the contemporary love song you think shows a similar set of Petrarchan (or Anti-Petrarchan!) attitudes, images, or word choices to one of the renaissance sonnets in the list above.

• Write roughly 250-300 words in which you identify which of the poems from the assigned reading you think it resembles and which specific images, metaphors, or tropes the poem and song share. Please quote at least twice from the poem and twice from the song lyrics.
