Introduction

In general, most motion is extremely complicated. Often, objects are changing direction, speeding up, slowing down, or a complex mixture of these. To complicate things further, rarely is the acceleration of an object constant over any given time interval.

However, from a mathematical point of view, and coupled with the fact there are physical situations where motion with constant velocity or constant acceleration do occur, these are the situations we will focus on.
