Outreach Project Citation Rules

List all sources cited in the text.

Do not include any references that you did not cite in the text.

The references are alphabetized by last name of the first author.

Avoid quotations. Paraphrase instead.

If you really like the exact wording from a source, you may cite the phrasing exactly, but the citation should be surrounded by quotes in this case. This may only be done once in your final report.

When do you have to cite?

When you use another person’s words or ideas in your paper you must acknowledge them with a proper citation. You paraphrase and you cite!

Different ways to cite in text APA Style Examples:

  1. Embedded- Biology is fun (Smith, 2005).
  2. In text 1 – Smith (2005) noted that biology is fun.
