Giving examples in your essays will always benefit you as a writer. It will help the reader get an understanding about your main points and why they are important. This is important because it will keep the reader engaged and give them some back up information. This type of essay is different because you don’t need to use so much detail. You are basically telling the reader about any important time in your life or any specific time. The examples are your details. We use illustration in our daily lives more than we actually notice. If you work and you have a staff meeting you are using illustration when you are giving examples as to why you think something should change or if you think something is going well. Another way that you may use illustration is if you are deciding what college to transfer to when you graduate. You may give examples as to why one college is a better choice than the other when talking with your academic counselor. We see illustration in our city as the council members are illustrating why certain taxes need to go up. The will give supporting examples that we may or may not agree with.
