Discussion 3: The Odyssey

Directions: Address the question below in a thoughtful, specific, meaningful way. Think critically and justify your position. At another time, respond to two other postings by classmates. All responses must be college-level in style and content (no “Twitter-speak”).

Think of someone in modern times (choose from movie heroes, literary heroes, or public figures) who compares to Odysseus. Who is it, and why do you think this?

Be specific. What exact correlation do you see between the modern hero and Odysseus. What experiences do they have that are similar? How do they each respond to situations that they find themselves in?

Remember – this is a literature course. I am more interested in your discussion of Odysseus than I am of the knowledge you have about the modern hero. The point is to discover what humankind has been contemplating and discussing since the Ancient Greeks
