Instructions

Once your interview has been completed, combine your research with the insight you gained from your interviewee in a 5–6-page business report that includes the following sections and content.

  • Title page.
    • Include a standard title page.
  • Section 1 – Interviewee Introduction.
    • Introduce your interviewee. Identify and describe the organization they work for and their position.
    • Summarize your interviewee’s background, including how they became interested in working in the health care field, how long they have worked in the field, their various positions in and out of the field, and their educational path.
    • Discuss your interviewee’s overall experience with the legal aspects of health care and how often they use or are impacted by these aspects in their day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Section 2 – Health Care Management Responsibilities.
    • Discuss legal health care management matters such as employment practices (wages, hours, working conditions, and affirmative action), union activity, workers’ compensation laws, occupational safety and health laws, sexual harassment, and employment discrimination law.
    • Provide an overview the employment process within health care, including the balance of rights and responsibilities of the employee versus the needs of the organization, circumstances that frequently cause employers to discharge an employee, and overall effective hiring practices.
    • Discuss the employment-at-will doctrine, various federal labor acts, public policies that protect employees from unlawful discharge, what is meant by retaliatory and constructive discharge, and how to defend a claim for unfair discharge.
    • Describe the purpose of a malpractice insurance policy, including risk categories, and the importance to professionals of carrying professional liability insurance.
    • Add any other relevant information gained from your interview related to any of our other studies in legal aspects of health care management.
  • Section 3: Summary.
    • In this section, summarize the key points of your analysis and key information that you learned and insights you gained from your interview. Discuss how what you learned from the analysis and interview will help you prepare for a career in management.
