This is fascinating to me because there hasn’t been any decline or any improvements. In the past three years, poverty for children aged 0 to 17in poverty decreased up to 11% from 15.8% to 14.0% along with meningococcal immunization has increased in adolescents aged 13 to 17 10% from 72.5% to 80.0%. In the past two years, primary care physicians increased 5% from 138.1 to 144.6 per 100,000 population.

Physical environment are one of the five determinants that would help improve health rankings for Virginia. Pollution in larger areas like Richmond there is a lot of air pollution, encouraging public transportation and car pooling would help. The second determinant would be, better access to health services, promotion of preventative health services, transportation, and the Medicaid expansion. The third determinant, increasing social support networks, Virginia’s mental health has declined, more available services for mental health and social support.The fourth determinate, better housing for the low income-based people, ensuring that these people are in safe housing, no lead paint or sewage issues.The fifth health determinant, agriculture, providing fresh, safely grown foods.Investing in local farmers and hatcheries.The promotion of healthy living, we cannot change our genetics, but we can prevent further damage by changing our lifestyles through decreasing our fat consumption, stop smoking, and illicit drug usage
