In class on Monday, we’ll have a discussion about climate change: the science behind it, how it’s already affecting people around the world, and how scientists contend with those who attempt to deny it.

I’m asking you to do some reading and take some notes at home in preparation for our class discussion. Be sure to bring your reading notes to class, because you will need them for discussion, and I will collect them at the end of class.

Reading Notes Worksheet: Climate Change/Science Denialism (Attached Below)

1. Briefly review one or more of these resources to either learn more about climate change or refresh your knowledge of the facts:

NY Times: Short Answers to Hard Questions about Climate Change (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/11/28/science/what-is-climate-change.html?_r=0&module=inline)

NASA: Global Climate Change (https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/)

US Global Change Research Program: Understand Climate Change (https://www.globalchange.gov/climate-change)

2. Read one of the following articles about how climate change is affecting and displacing people around the world. I’ve assigned you randomly to groups (see “People” here on Canvas): read the article that you were assigned.

Group 2: Remote Pacific Nation Threatened by Rising Seas (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/03/world/asia/climate-change-kiribati.html)
