Assignment 1 (Problem statement and project plan) aims to get you started on selecting a research topic and planning for your project. This assignment prepares you for the literature review, which is Assignment 2. In order to engage you more in the research process and encourage you to utilise your prior knowledge and experience, I suggest that you select a real research problem for your project that you can relate to in some way. Once you have identified a problem area, you need to apply the knowledge learned during the first 4 weeks to frame the problem into a researchable one and outline your plan to address it. Your project plan section can be in outline format (see examples of this assignment on Blackboard). You need to cite at least 5 academic references from journals or books; in addition, you may also search and cite from non-academic sources (e.g., government/community reports, internet sources), where necessary. APA referencing style is required. The word limit (500) is suggestive. No penalties will apply for the sole reason that your assignment goes above or under the suggested word limit.
